The hours count for paying customers too
If you already have a subscription, an ad does not start a separate free balance — the time is added straight onto the end of your current plan, at your current speed, with your current device count. Watching one on the bus makes your subscription last longer. There is no daily banking cap on a paid account either.
Why a “free VPN” usually isn’t
Running servers costs money. If a free VPN has no advertiser, the bill is still being paid — by you, in a currency you did not agree to.
Most free VPNs sell the data
Browsing history, timestamps and device identifiers are the product. It is an old business model and it is why the phrase has the reputation it does.

Really free. Nothing on the free plan asks for payment details, so there is nothing that could start charging you. The 30-minute test costs nothing, the ad-funded time is free, and if you never buy a subscription you can keep using the ad-funded plan indefinitely. A full day is $0,39 if you ever want one.
+ Do I need a credit card to start?
No. The 30-minute test starts without an account, without a card, without a phone number and without a billing address. An account is only needed when you decide to keep a subscription.
+ How much free VPN time can I get in a day?
Up to 10 hours. One ad is worth 2 hours, you can watch 5 a day, and there are 60 minutes between them. That spacing is deliberate: it keeps the free tier usable all day rather than letting one person drain it in five minutes.
+ How much data does the free plan include?
Up to 3 GB a day, and the counter resets daily rather than accumulating. That is comfortable for browsing, messaging, maps and music; heavy video will use it faster.
+ Do you keep logs of what I do on the free plan?
No — the free plan is treated exactly like a paid one. We do not log the sites you visit. The service stores your email, your subscription state and anonymous traffic totals, which is the minimum it needs to run. The Privacy Policy lists it precisely.
+ How many devices can I use for free?
One at a time on the free plan. You can change which device that is from your panel whenever you like — each one has its own key, and revoking one does not disturb the others. Paid plans start at two.
+ What happens to time I do not use?
It stays on the account, up to 8 hours. Once you are holding that much, watching another ad is paused until you have spent some of it — a ceiling on the balance, not on the day.
+ Which apps can I use it with?
Our own apps for iOS, Android, Windows and macOS, plus a browser extension. If you already use a standard third-party client, or you are on a device we do not have an app for, your panel shows a QR code and a subscription link that work with the widely used ones.
+ Is a free VPN safe to use?
It depends entirely on how it is funded. A service with no visible revenue is being paid somehow, and with a VPN the thing worth selling is your browsing. Before trusting any free VPN, find out who pays for the servers and read what the privacy policy says is recorded. Ours is funded by advertising and we do not log browsing.
+ What does a paid plan add?
